Derek Hamilton Lab
Director: Derek Hamilton
Dr. Hamilton’s animal research investigates basic physiological processes involved in learning, memory, spatial behavior (Hamilton et al., 2008; 2009b), and social behavior (Hamilton et al., 2008a, Silasi et al., 2008). Future research also will expand his work on behavioral and cognitive consequences of prenatal alcohol exposure (Hamilton et al., 2003; 2009a) and their physiological bases, and ongoing work on the physiological bases of behavioral and cognitive alterations following stimulant exposure (Hamilton & Kolb, 2005). Through combined human and animal research he is well positioned to evaluate the generality of behavioral and cognitive consequences of drug abuse exposure, and to develop a programmatic translational research effort to identify underlying mechanisms.
